New Release: Festschrift for G. K. Beale

G. K. Beale has labored long and hard over explicit quotations of the OT in the NT as well as subtle allusions and “echoes.” He has exemplified a disciplined methodology for doing biblical theology and helped clarify the apostolic hermeneutic through his research. Many students, pastors, and scholars are indebted to Beale’s writings.

Hendrickson has announced the release of a festschrift in honor of G. K. Beale (currently available to pre-order):

Gladd, Benjamin L. and Daniel M. Gurtner. From Creation to New Creation: Essays on Biblical Theology and Exegesis. Peabody, Mass.: Hendrikson, 2013. 300pp. $37.96, Hardcover.

This work is divided into three parts: “Old Testament,” “Use of the Old Testament in the New,” and “Biblical Theology.” It includes articles from notable scholars such as Richard Bauckham, D. A. Carson, Douglas Moo, Daniel Block, Roy Ciampa, Rikk Watts, C. Hassell Bullock, Gordon Hugenberger, Nicholas Perrin, and the editors and others. The book appears to be a delightful set of essays for the reader.

For those unfamiliar with Beale’s work, he has several works that I could recommend, but especially important is his recently published full-blown NT Theology, which is unique and compellingly organized:

Beale, G. K. New Testament Biblical Theology, A: The Unfolding of the Old Testament in the New. Grand Rapids, Mich.: Baker Academic, 2011.
